Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed happiness over the release of all hostages following the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire deal. He thanked US President Donald Trump for his strong role in restoring peace in the region.
In a post on X, Modi wrote, “We welcome the release of all hostages after over two years of captivity. Their freedom stands as a tribute to the courage of their families, the unwavering peace efforts of President Trump and the strong resolve of Prime Minister Netanyahu. We support President Trump’s sincere efforts to bring peace to the region.”

Israel releases prisoners, aid allowed into Gaza
As part of the agreement, Israel released more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners. The country also agreed to permit a large supply of food and humanitarian aid into Gaza, where severe famine conditions had worsened the humanitarian crisis.
Modi earlier congratulated Trump on Gaza peace plan
This is not the first time PM Modi has praised Trump for his role in the Gaza peace process. Earlier, in another post on X, Modi said he had spoken with the US President over the phone and congratulated him on the “success of the historic Gaza peace plan.”
Calling Trump his “friend,” Modi wrote, “Spoke to my friend, President Trump and congratulated him on the success of the historic Gaza peace plan. Also reviewed the good progress achieved in trade negotiations. Agreed to stay in close touch over the coming weeks.”
Egypt hosts peace summit on Middle East stability
Later today, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will host the ‘Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit’ to discuss long-term stability in Gaza and the wider Middle East. The summit will be co-chaired by al-Sisi and President Trump.
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh will represent India at the meeting as Prime Minister Modi’s special envoy. Nearly 20 world leaders are expected to attend the event in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
New Delhi has officially deputed Singh to attend the summit on behalf of the Prime Minister.
