Bollywood actress and producer Kriti Sanon became the first Indian actress to speak at the World Health Summit 2025 in Berlin. She urged world leaders to act on women’s health and gender equality.
Sanon Demands Action on Women’s Health
At a session titled “Women’s Health – Global Wealth: Catalysing Returns on Bold Investments,” Sanon, UNFPA India’s Honorary Ambassador for Gender Equality, called on governments and institutions to prioritize women’s health.
“Women’s health is not a side issue,” she said. “It is the cornerstone of humanity’s progress, prosperity, and future.”
She highlighted that women make up nearly half of the global population, but investments in their health remain low. Sanon shared that USD 300 million in women’s health can yield USD 13 billion, a nine-fold return.
“Investing in women’s health is not just moral; it is strategic,” she added. “Healthy women build stronger families, communities, and economies.”
Inclusion and Awareness
Sanon promoted the idea “Nothing about her, without her.” She said women must participate in policies affecting their health. Drawing from her fieldwork, she noted child marriage, poor maternal care, and barriers to healthcare. She stressed that timely actions can save lives and empower generations.
