Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday (October 18) flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles from the BrahMos Aerospace facility in Lucknow’s Sarojini Nagar. This marks a major step for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC).

According to officials quoted by PTI, the launch will strengthen India’s push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
Singh Praises Operation Sindoor
Speaking at the event, Singh hailed Operation Sindoor. He said, “Victory has become a habit.” He added, “Operation Sindoor proved that India’s success is no longer rare.”
Rajnath Singh commended the armed forces for their skill and readiness. He warned, “Our adversaries will no longer escape BrahMos. Every inch of Pakistani territory is within its range.” Singh also noted, “That was just a trailer. Pakistan now realises what India can do.”
Global Contracts and Growth Ahead
Singh revealed that BrahMos Aerospace signed contracts worth ₹4,000 crore with two countries in one month. He added, “Experts from across the world will soon come to Lucknow. It will become a global hub for defence technology. The unit’s turnover will reach ₹3,000 crore next year. Its annual GST contribution will be around ₹5,000 crore.”
Yogi Adityanath Highlights Jobs and Industry
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the facility will boost industrial growth in Uttar Pradesh. He also highlighted job creation. He explained, “We have allocated over 2,500 acres in six Defence Corridor nodes. This has created employment for over 15,000 youth.”
The CM added that the BrahMos unit, inaugurated in May 2025, houses modern systems for missile integration, testing, and quality checks. He further noted, “Once we produce 100 missiles annually, and increase to 150, the state will earn ₹150–200 crore through GST.”
The event also saw Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, and senior officials in attendance.
