The final league-stage match of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 between India Women and Bangladesh Women in Navi Mumbai was called off due to rain. As a result, the game ended with no result. Bangladesh Women managed to score 119 in 27 overs in the rain-affected match, which was reduced to 27 overs per side after multiple interruptions. India got a revised target of 126 in 27 overs as per the DLS method. While chasing, India were cruising at 57 for no loss in 8.4 overs when rain returned. After a brief delay, the match was abandoned, and both teams shared the points.

Rain Halts India vs Bangladesh World Cup Match

Unseasonal rain stopped the final group-stage match of the Women’s World Cup between India and Bangladesh. India was set for a big win before the weather intervened. Play started two hours late, reducing the game to 43 overs per side. Another two-hour stoppage during Bangladesh’s innings cut it further to 27 overs, setting India a revised target of 126 runs.

India Strong Before Weather Interruption

India reached 57 without loss in the ninth over. Rain prevented the minimum 20 overs from being bowled. Heavy rain is expected in Mumbai for the rest of the week, raising concerns ahead of India’s semi-final against Australia on Thursday. Opening batter Pratika Rawal injured her knee and ankle while fielding and could not open the batting. Amanjot Kaur replaced her to partner Smriti Mandhana.

Spinners Dominate Bangladesh

India’s left-arm spinners controlled Bangladesh’s innings. Radha Yadav, playing her first match of the tournament, took 3 wickets for 30 runs. Shree Charani claimed 2 wickets for 23 runs. Only four Bangladesh batters reached double figures. Bangladesh finished at 119 for 9 in 27 overs.

Early Pressure on Bangladesh

Renuka Singh tested Sumaiya Akter with an inswinging yorker. Akter sliced a wide delivery but was caught by Charani at short third. Deepti Sharma broke through in the tenth over, dismissing Rubya Haider caught at mid-off.

Rain Interrupts Play Again

Heavy rain returned after 17 balls, forcing a pause at 5:50 pm. Play resumed later on a wet ball. Sharmin Akhter nearly ran herself out but survived when Charani failed to collect the throw. Four overs later, Radha executed a clean run-out to dismiss Sharmin.

Bangladesh Struggles to Score

Bangladesh struggled to find boundaries. Sobhana Mostary scored the first boundary after 41 balls, cutting Deepti for four. She followed with another boundary through midwicket. By the 20th over, Bangladesh were 73 for 3, poised to build a strong total.

Collapse in Late Overs

Mostary was caught at mid-off by Harleen Deol for 26 off 21 balls. Shorna Akter was bowled by Amanjot. Nahida Akter was bowled by Radha. Substitute fielder Arundhati Reddy made a spectacular catch to dismiss Sharmin. Radha finished by bowling Rabeya Khan. Bangladesh collapsed from 91 for 3 to 117 for 9.

India Starts Chase but Rain Stops Play

India began their chase confidently. Amanjot pulled Marufa Akter for the first boundary. Mandhana hit several fours off Nishita Akter. Both were also dropped once—Mandhana on 28 and Amanjot on 15. Rain returned before India could complete the chase. Captains shook hands at 10:20 pm. Bangladesh earned a point and moved past Pakistan to seventh place on net run rate.
