AIFF Super Cup 2025-26: Mohun Bagan Held to Goalless Draw by Dempo SC
Mohun Bagan Super Giant were held to a goalless draw by Dempo SC in their second AIFF Super Cup 2025 match in Goa.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Dempo SC played out a tense 0-0 draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa in their second Group A match of the AIFF Super Cup 2025-26.

With this result, Mohun Bagan now have four points from two games. They sit second in the group, behind East Bengal FC on goal difference. To reach the semi-finals, the Mariners must beat East Bengal in the Kolkata Derby on Friday.

Molina Rotates His Squad

Head coach Jose Molina made eight changes to his starting lineup. He brought in Dimitri Petratos, Dippendu Biswas, Robson Robinho, Asish Rai, Jason Cummings, Abhishek Singh Tekcham, Abhishek Suryavanshi, and Deepak Tangri.

The new-look team controlled the ball from the start. Mohun Bagan created several openings in the first half but couldn’t find the finishing touch to score.

First-Half Missed Chances

In the 24th minute, Petratos tried his luck from distance. His shot was blocked and fell straight to Jason Cummings, who attempted to convert the rebound. However, Dempo’s defenders reacted quickly and cleared the danger.

Despite dominating possession, Mohun Bagan couldn’t turn their chances into goals. Dempo defended deep and stayed organised to frustrate the Mariners.

Second-Half Pressure Builds

After halftime, Mohun Bagan pushed harder. Robson Robinho started linking up well with substitute Jamie Maclaren, adding pace and energy to their attack.

In the 69th minute, Petratos sent a perfect long ball to Maclaren inside the box. The Australian striker controlled it well but failed to hit the target.

Later, another substitute, Manvir Singh, came close to scoring in the final moments. His header from Asish Rai’s corner missed the post by inches.

Stalemate in Goa

The final whistle confirmed a goalless draw as both teams failed to find a breakthrough. Mohun Bagan had more chances but couldn’t convert their dominance into goals.

With this result, the Mariners face a must-win match against East Bengal in the much-anticipated Kolkata Derby on Friday. Meanwhile, Dempo SC will meet Chennaiyin FC earlier that same day.
