West Indies defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in the third T20I of the three-match series at Chattogram to seal a 3-0 series victory. Bangladesh managed to score 151 in 20 overs, powered by a blazing knock from Tanzid Hasan. Saif Hassan also made a useful contribution that helped the hosts reach a respectable total.

Romario Shepherd’s brilliant hat-trick dismantled Bangladesh’s lower order and restricted them to 151 all out. While chasing, fifties from Ackeem Auguste and Roston Chase guided the visitors home comfortably. Rishad Hossain (3/43 in 4 overs) tried his best, but his efforts were not enough to stop the power-hitting of West Indies batters.

With this win, West Indies completed a clean sweep of the series 3-0.

Tanzid Shines in Losing Cause

Earlier, Bangladesh began strongly after choosing to bat. Tanzid Hasan led the charge, smashing three boundaries in the opening overs. Though Parvez Hossain and Litton Das fell cheaply, Tanzid’s 57 kept the scoreboard moving.

He added 63 runs for the third wicket with Saif Hassan. Tanzid hit three sixes and several crisp shots before falling in the 20th over, completing Shepherd’s hat-trick.

Shepherd’s Hat-Trick Turns the Game

Bangladesh seemed well-placed at 107 for 2 in the 15th over but collapsed dramatically to 151 all out. They lost eight wickets for just 44 runs in 5.3 overs. Shepherd triggered the collapse with a hat-trick spread over two overs.

He first dismissed Nurul Hasan and Shoriful Islam, then trapped Tanzid Hasan to complete the hat-trick. Interestingly, Shepherd didn’t realise his achievement until Jason Holder informed him from mid-off. It was only the eighth time Bangladesh’s batters had suffered a T20I hat-trick.

Jangoo’s Lively Start Boosts Chase

West Indies had a cautious start during their chase of 152. Mahedi Hasan dismissed Alick Athanaze for 1, and Amir Jangoo initially struggled for timing. However, he quickly turned the tide.

After being dropped twice, Jangoo attacked Taskin Ahmed in the fourth over, hitting a six and three boundaries in an 18-run over. His quick 23-ball 34 gave West Indies the momentum they needed. Bangladesh, however, managed to remove Brandon King and Jangoo within eight overs, leaving the visitors at 53 for 3.

Auguste and Chase Anchor the Innings

After early setbacks, Ackeem Auguste and Roston Chase steadied the innings with a vital 91-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Auguste targeted Bangladesh’s spinners, hitting five sixes—mostly on the leg side.

Chase, dropped early on 10, capitalized well. He found boundaries around the ground and later reached his fourth T20I half-century. Auguste also played a composed knock before both were dismissed by Rishad Hossain in the 16th over. By then, West Indies were within touching distance of victory.
