Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the Congress government in Karnataka of allowing terrorists to enjoy VIP treatment in jail. The charge came after a video from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail went viral.
The clip allegedly shows ISIS recruiter Junaid Hameed Shakeel Manna using a mobile phone and watching television inside the high-security facility.
Malviya Calls It a Threat to National Security
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared the video on X. He wrote, “TERRORIST GETS VIP TREATMENT UNDER CONGRESS RULE IN KARNATAKA! A chilling video from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail exposes how ISIS recruiter Junaid Hameed Shakeel Manna enjoys VIP treatment inside a high-security prison, using mobile phones and watching television freely.”
Malviya said Manna stayed in contact with his network outside the prison. He called this a “direct threat to national security.”
Malviya added that Karnataka’s prisons had turned into “comfort zones for terrorists and criminals” under the Congress government. He blamed the administration for “total collapse.”

Reports of Jail Irregularities
The controversy grew after reports suggested widespread irregularities inside the prison. Sources said the accused ISIS recruiter had easy access to a smartphone and used it freely.
The footage also allegedly shows high-profile inmates like Umesh Reddy and Tarun Raju, raising questions about lax jail security.
Government Orders Probe
After the outrage, Director General of Prisons B. Dayananda ordered a detailed inquiry. He asked officials to verify the video’s authenticity and identify those responsible for the lapses.
Officials said strict action would follow if the claims proved true.
