A day before Bihar’s election results, political tension rose after the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) claiming that a truck loaded with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) entered the Sasaram counting centre late on Thursday. The party alleged irregularities in the movement of EVMs just hours before counting day.
Administration Rejects Allegations
However, the district administration in Rohtas quickly refuted the claims. District Magistrate and Election Officer Udita Singh clarified that the truck carried only empty steel boxes, not EVMs.
“After receiving information about this incident, the trucks were inspected at the entrance of the counting centre located at Takiya Bazar Samiti, Sasaram. This inspection was conducted in front of the candidates and their supporters present there,” read a post from the official X handle of the DM Rohtas office.

The statement added, “The entire inspection process was also videoed. All the steel trucks were found to be completely empty, and no EVMs were found in them. Therefore, the claim of ‘trucks loaded with EVMs’ is untrue.”
Officials Conduct On-Site Inspection
Speaking to reporters, DM Udita Singh said the truck entered the counting centre at 7:59 p.m. on Wednesday after undergoing police checking and proper logbook entry.
She confirmed that a district team rushed to the site after reports of alleged irregularities surfaced. “Every single box was opened and checked in the presence of those deployed by political parties and their supporters, who were present in large numbers,” she said.
The DM mentioned that the truck was parked about 500 metres away from the strong room. Calling the allegations baseless, she urged political parties not to spread false information during such a sensitive time.
CCTV and Security Measures in Place
Singh also rejected claims that CCTV cameras were not working. “All cameras are functioning properly. A viewing system is in place where persons deployed by candidates can go and watch the CCTV footage. Cameras are installed at entry and exit points for all the strong rooms as well as on the campus,” she said.
The Bihar Chief Electoral Officer later reposted the district administration’s clarification on X to ensure transparency.
