Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch Wins Miss Universe 2025 Title After Dramatic Turmoil
Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch won Miss Universe 2025 after a drama-filled lead-up marked by conflicts, judge resignations, and on-stage mishaps.

Fatima Bosch of Mexico won the Miss Universe 2025 title on Friday in Thailand. She defeated contestants from Ivory Coast, the Philippines, Thailand, and Venezuela. More than 120 women competed in the global pageant.

Drama Before the Finale

Chaos marked the days leading up to the final. Bosch walked out of a meeting earlier this month after Thai organiser Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly scolded her. He criticised her for not posting promotional content on social media.

The moment was streamed live. Nawat appeared to target Bosch and even called for security. Bosch left the room in her evening gown and heels, with Miss Iraq beside her. Some contestants tried to show support, but Nawat ordered those who wanted to continue to “sit down.”

Bosch told reporters, “What your director did is not respectful: he called me dumb. The world needs to see this because we are empowered women and this is a platform for our voice.”

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum praised Bosch and called her an “example of how we women should speak out” against aggression. Nawat later apologised.

Judges Quit Over Rigging Claims

Two judges quit this week. French composer Omar Harfouch claimed the pageant was rigged through a “secret and illegitimate vote” involving people who were not part of the official jury. The Miss Universe Organization denied his allegations and said “no impromptu jury has been created.”

Former footballer Claude Makelele also withdrew as a judge, citing “unforeseen personal reasons.”

Stage Mishaps Continue the Chaos

Accidents added more drama. Miss Britain Danielle Latimer tripped and fell during the costume round while wearing an Eliza Doolittle-inspired outfit.

Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry fell off the main stage during the evening gown round. She was taken to the hospital. Organization president Raul Rocha said she was under medical observation.

Miss Universe Jamaica’s PR director Shannon-Dale Reid later said Henry was resting and had not suffered serious injuries. He declined further comment on Thursday.

A Crown After the Storm

Bosch rose above the controversy and captured the Miss Universe 2025 title, ending a chaotic and dramatic edition of the pageant.
