Russian drones and missiles struck several parts of Kyiv early Saturday. The strikes killed one person and left 11 others injured. Explosions and falling debris triggered multiple fires across the capital.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that emergency teams were working around the clock in Kyiv and nearby regions. He noted that Russia had launched “about 36 missiles and almost 600 drones against ordinary life,” with key energy facilities and civilian zones among the main targets.
According to Zelenskyy, the latest strikes caused widespread destruction. He said, “We currently have reports of dozens injured and three killed,” offering condolences to the affected families.

Zelenskyy Calls for Stronger Air Defense
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine must accelerate efforts to strengthen its air defense network. He said, “We must work without wasting a single day to ensure that there are enough missiles for our air defense systems.”
He added that Ukraine needs consistent international support to protect its people and to increase military pressure on Russia.
The president also urged Europe to act decisively on frozen Russian assets if Moscow refuses to stop its ongoing drone and missile strikes. He said continued discussions with global partners are essential to bringing the war to an end.
Second Major Strike on Kyiv in Four Days
Saturday’s raid came just four days after another deadly attack on the capital. On Tuesday, seven people died when Russia launched a heavy barrage of drones and missiles at Kyiv.
Six Sites Damaged in Overnight Strikes
Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, confirmed that Russian forces hit six different locations overnight. The blasts damaged apartment buildings and several homes across the city of nearly 3 million residents.
Emergency responders recovered one body from the ruins of a burning apartment block. Rescuers also pulled a child out from the same structure.
Fires Reported Across Multiple Districts
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said one strike caused a major fire on the lower floors of a high-rise building west of the city centre.
Another blaze broke out in a central district but firefighters controlled it quickly.
Fresh Drone Alert Issued at Dawn
Authorities issued a new air raid alert shortly after 5 a.m. (0300 GMT), warning residents about incoming drones and urging them to take shelter.
