East Bengal showed grit and sharp finishing. As a result, they booked a place in their third AIFF Super Cup 2025 final. They beat Punjab FC 3–1 on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda, Goa. Moreover, this became their second final of the season after they lost a tight IFA Shield match to Mohun Bagan SG.
Early Pressure And First Goal
Both teams began carefully. However, Punjab created the first clear chance when Pramveer met a cross in the early minutes, but he sent the header wide. In addition, Punjab missed suspended defender Muhammed Uvais. As a result, their backline looked unsettled, and East Bengal took advantage quickly.
In the 12th minute, East Bengal broke through from a clever short corner. Miguel Ferreira floated the ball into the area. Although the defence tried to clear it, the ball fell to Mohamad Bashim Rashid just outside the box. He controlled it cleanly and fired a powerful low shot. The ball slipped under Muheet Shabir’s glove and crossed the line. It was Rashid’s first goal for the club, and it boosted East Bengal’s confidence.
Punjab Hit Back From The Spot
After conceding, Punjab pushed forward with more intent. Consequently, they found an equaliser in the 34th minute. A simple aerial ball caused confusion in the East Bengal defence. Ricky Shabong’s header hit Bipin Singh’s arm inside the box. Therefore, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Daniel Ramirez stepped up and converted calmly. He sent Prabhsukhan Singh Gill the wrong way and made it 1–1, swinging the momentum briefly.
Sibille Restores The Lead
Despite the setback, East Bengal stayed focused. They remained dangerous from set pieces. Then, deep into first-half stoppage time, Ferreira delivered another precise corner from the left. Kevin Sibille rose highest and powered a header into the net. East Bengal regained the lead at 2–1. The celebrations were intense, and Oscar Bruzon received a second yellow card from the sideline for over-celebrating.
East Bengal Take Full Control
After the break, East Bengal looked more confident and controlled the tempo. In the 56th minute, they almost added another goal. Bipin Singh sprinted down the left and struck a fierce shot. Although Shabir saved it, Hiroshi Ibusuki arrived at the far post but failed to guide his header on target.
Meanwhile, Punjab tried to find space through Suhail and Ramirez. However, East Bengal’s defence stayed compact. They shut down openings and blocked every serious attempt on goal.
Crespo Seals The Win
In the 71st minute, East Bengal delivered the final blow. Ferreira dribbled past several defenders in the box and then squared the ball to captain Saul Crespo. He calmly guided a left-footed shot into the bottom corner. The score moved to 3–1, and Punjab lost hope.
Later, East Bengal almost found a fourth goal as Ferreira created another chance, but his effort went narrowly wide. At the other end, Punjab threatened once more when Ramirez released Bede Amarachi Osuji. This time, Gill stood firm and gathered the shot safely.
Celebration At The Final Whistle
When the referee blew the final whistle, East Bengal’s players celebrated together. They knew they had earned their place in another major final through discipline, teamwork, and clinical finishing.
