Singer and dubbing artiste Chinmayi Sripada said she received a morphed nude picture on Wednesday evening. She escalated the issue to Hyderabad City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on social media. She also released a video explaining that she has faced continuous online threats for weeks.
Trolling Intensifies After Husband’s Comment
Chinmayi explained that the harassment surged after her husband, filmmaker-actor Rahul Ravindran, commented on the mangalasutra a few weeks ago. Since then, she said the trolling against her and her family has become aggressive.
She posted the morphed image and her video statement online. She wrote, “I got a morphed image from a page today and tagged the cops - whether legal action happen will happen or not is not the issue.”
Children Also Threatened
In her video, she said, “I have been abused, my children have been given death threats.” She added that she filed a police complaint against some individuals on Twitter Spaces. According to her, they said women they dislike “shouldn’t ever have children, and if they do, their children must die.” She said several men applauded and laughed during these remarks.

But I made this video for girls and their families to safeguard against the ‘Lanja Munda’ spewing people here who have been paid to do this for the past… pic.twitter.com/unjeJANNHP
Long-Term Harassment After Naming Her Abuser
Chinmayi said she has faced similar attacks ever since she openly spoke about harassment by a lyricist. She stated, “A lot of people have abused me; they have been paid for by political groups. There was a particular Tweet today that shared a morphed photo of me in the nude. I am sharing so women know these kinds of things happen, men do this to push us out of public spaces.”
Chinmayi Warns of Deepfake Dangers
She highlighted how rapidly spreading deepfakes and AI tools will create more risks for women. She said such images are often used for revenge or intimidation. Chinmayi made her stance clear: “I am not the kind of woman who is shamed by this.”
She urged women, girls, and parents to take legal action if they face similar abuse.
Background: Chinmayi’s Role in MeToo Movement
Chinmayi was a leading voice in India’s MeToo movement. In 2018, she accused lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual harassment. She also amplified allegations against musicians OS Thyagarajan, Raghu Dixit, and Karthik.
After her accusations, the Tamil Film Dubbing Union terminated her membership, with president Radha Ravi citing non-payment of fees. The case is still in court.
