There was no break from air pollution in the Delhi on Friday. Delhi woke up to thick fog, poor visibility, and even worse air quality. The city’s overall Air Quality Index stood at 387. This falls in the ‘very poor’ category. However, several areas recorded AQI levels above 400, pushing them into the ‘severe’ range.
Airlines Issue Fog Advisory
As fog conditions worsened, major airlines issued travel advisories. Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet warned passengers that dense fog could disrupt flight schedules.
Later, the Delhi airport confirmed that some flights were affected. Airport authorities said teams were working to support passengers amid the disruptions.
Visibility Drops Across the City
Dense fog covered large parts of Delhi early Friday morning. Visuals showed vehicles moving slowly through roads wrapped in thick mist.
A JUSZNEWS reporter described poor visibility at Dhaula Kuan. The area is considered one of the greener parts of the city. Despite this, fog levels remained very high.
Similar scenes were reported at the Delhi airport. Passengers were seen arriving in near-zero visibility conditions.
Fliers Asked to Check Flight Status
Airlines urged travellers to stay alert and plan carefully. Citing warnings from the weather department, IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet cautioned passengers about possible delays and cancellations.
“Customers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport and allow extra time for travel, as low visibility may lead to slower traffic on the roads,” a part of IndiGo's tweet read.
IndiGo had earlier faced mass flight cancellations this month. Thousands of passengers were affected during that period.
SpiceJet also issued a similar advisory. The airline asked passengers to regularly check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
Air India Highlights ‘FogCare’ Initiative
Air India informed travellers about its ‘FogCare’ initiative. Under this service, passengers receive advance alerts on their registered phone numbers.
The airline also said passengers could change their flights without paying any extra charges if fog disrupts operations.
Flights Cancelled, Operations Under CAT III
Visuals from the airport showed that some flights were cancelled on Friday morning. The Delhi airport confirmed disruptions and said operations were being carried out under CAT III conditions due to low visibility.
This came a day after 27 flights were cancelled in Delhi because of dense fog and poor visibility.
