Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday delivered the 129th episode of Mann Ki Baat, his last address of 2025. He described India’s youth as the strongest force behind nation building in a fast-changing, technology-driven world. He said young people give the country confidence and hope for the future.
The Prime Minister warned that rapid technological growth should not weaken human values. “Today’s life is becoming tech-driven, and the changes that used to happen over centuries, we are seeing them happen over a few years. At times, some people express concern whether robots are going to replace humans,” he said. He stressed that staying connected to cultural roots remains essential for human growth.
PM Modi announced that the second edition of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue will take place on January 12. The date marks National Youth Day and the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
Focus on public health and responsible medicine use
During the address, the Prime Minister flagged a recent ICMR report on rising antibiotic resistance. He said medicines used to treat illnesses such as pneumonia and urinary tract infections are losing effectiveness.
PM Modi urged people to avoid taking antibiotics without medical advice. He said careless use is weakening their impact. However, he did not mention the severe air pollution in the national capital during the more than 30-minute broadcast.
A year of confidence and security
As the programme opened, visuals from major moments of 2025 appeared on screen. These included Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India and the women’s cricket team’s World Cup victory. Modi described 2025 as a year that strengthened national confidence across many sectors.
Speaking on national security, he said, “This year, Operation Sindoor became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world clearly saw that today’s India doesn’t compromise with its security.” He also referred to Vande Mataram completing 150 years, an issue that led to sharp debates in Parliament during the Winter Session.
Faith, culture, and innovation go together
The Prime Minister recalled starting the year with the Mahakumbh, where he took a ceremonial dip. He said the year ended with the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He described both events as moments that united faith, culture, and national identity.
PM Modi shared examples of innovation mixed with culture. He spoke about Geetanjali IISC at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru. What began as a small music class has grown into a cultural group with more than 200 participants. Students wanted space for music alongside science and research, he said.
Young minds solving real problems
Modi highlighted Smart India Hackathon 2025, where students worked on over 200 real-life challenges. He said participants offered solutions on cyber fraud, including digital arrest scams. They also worked on cybersecurity systems for digital banking in rural areas.
He praised grassroots innovation from Manipur. He spoke about Moirangthem Seth, who led efforts to install solar panels in remote regions. These projects brought electricity to hundreds of homes and health centres. Modi said the work improved healthcare, supported livelihoods, and helped women. He linked these efforts to the government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Heritage, languages, and global outreach
The Prime Minister referred to archaeological discoveries in Jammu and Kashmir’s Jehanpura area. Scientists identified ancient Buddhist stupas through mapping and archival links traced to France.
He also spoke about promoting Indian languages abroad. He mentioned Tamil language initiatives in Fiji and learning programmes in Varanasi. In these programmes, children whose mother tongue is Hindi are studying Tamil.
Looking ahead to 2026
As he closed the broadcast, Modi reminded listeners that this was the final Mann Ki Baat episode of 2025. “This is the last episode of Mann Ki Baat in 2025. We will meet again in 2026. We will return with the same enthusiasm, energy and a sense of togetherness with new episodes, new issues,” he said. He also urged people to take care of their health during the winter season.
