Shrachi Bengal Tigers produced a disciplined and well-organised display to defeat Ranchi Royals 1-0 in match eight of the Women’s Hero Hockey India League 2025–26. The match was played at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium on Sunday.

Royals Start Strong but Miss Early Chances
Ranchi Royals came into the match with confidence after two straight wins. They started aggressively and controlled the midfield in the early stages. In the opening quarter, the home side earned five penalty corners and made seven circle entries.
However, they failed to convert their chances. Shrachi Bengal Tigers goalkeeper Jennifer Rizzo stood tall, making key saves to deny the Royals. The Tigers relied on quick counter-attacks and almost took the lead late in the quarter. At the other end, Bichu Devi Kharibam made a couple of sharp stops to ensure the first quarter ended scoreless.
Tigers Grow in Confidence Before the Break
The second quarter saw Shrachi Bengal Tigers settle into the game. They began to attack with more intent and put sustained pressure on the Royals defence. The Tigers recorded seven circle penetrations and earned two penalty corners as they searched for the opening goal.
Despite the pressure, Ranchi Royals goalkeeper Madhuri Kindo produced crucial saves to keep her side level. Both teams defended resolutely, and the first half ended in a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
Gorzelany Breaks the Deadlock
Ranchi Royals started the second half with renewed energy and created a couple of good scoring chances. However, it was the visitors who struck first. Agustina Gorzelany converted a penalty corner in the 37th minute to give Shrachi Bengal Tigers a 1-0 lead.
The goal was Gorzelany’s fourth of the season. It also shifted the momentum in favour of the Tigers. Ranchi Royals pushed for an immediate response, but they were unable to break through the well-drilled Tigers defence during the third quarter.
Tigers Hold Firm Under Late Pressure
Ranchi Royals dominated possession in the final quarter and launched repeated attacks in search of an equaliser. They made seven circle entries and earned five penalty corners during the closing stages.
Even so, the Shrachi Bengal Tigers remained calm and organised at the back. Their defence held firm under sustained pressure and denied the Royals any clear scoring opportunity. The disciplined effort ensured the Tigers walked away with all three points from a tightly contested match.
