WPL 2026: RCB Continue Winning Streak With Comfortable Win Over Giants
Royal Challengers Bengaluru stayed unbeaten in WPL 2026 after a dominant 32-run win over Gujarat Giants, powered by Radha Yadav’s 66 and a five-wicket haul from Shreyanka Patil.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) outclassed Gujarat Giants (GG) by 32 runs in the 9th match of the TATA Women’s Premier League 2026 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. After being invited to bat first, RCB posted 182/7 in 20 overs. Radha Yadav played a blazing knock of 66 runs off 47 balls, while Richa Ghosh also impressed with a quick 44 off 28 balls. Nadine de Klerk added valuable runs at the end with a brief cameo. Sophie Devine (3/31 in 4 overs) and Kashvee Gautam (2/42 in 4 overs) were the leading bowlers for Gujarat Giants.

While chasing, Beth Mooney provided a strong start for Gujarat Giants, but the momentum soon faded. Shreyanka Patil (5/23 in 3.5 overs) and Lauren Bell (3/29 in 4 overs) dismantled the Gujarat Giants batting lineup. Gujarat Giants were eventually bowled out for 150 with seven balls remaining. Bharti Fulmali was the highest scorer for Gujarat Giants. With this win, RCB remain the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far.

Early collapse puts RCB under pressure

RCB’s innings began in dramatic fashion. The opening over, bowled by Renuka Singh, went for 23 runs. However, the next five overs changed the momentum completely. Only 22 runs came during that phase, and four wickets fell.

Renuka struggled with control and conceded seven runs through three wide balls. Grace Harris struck four boundaries, all on the leg side. An lbw decision against her was initially given out but later overturned.

Kashvee Gautam provided the first breakthrough for Gujarat Giants (GG) with an inswinger that trapped Harris lbw. In the same spell, debutant Shivani Singh impressed with a sharp one-handed catch at short fine leg to remove Dayalan Hemalatha.

Renuka made a comeback by dismissing Smriti Mandhana, who sliced a catch to short third. Sophie Devine then removed Gautami Naik lbw. At 43 for 4, RCB were in serious trouble.

Radha and Ghosh rebuild the innings

Radha Yadav, promoted to No. 5, joined Richa Ghosh with a clear task—to stop the collapse. The pair started cautiously, absorbing pressure for a couple of overs.

Radha then shifted gears by attacking Georgia Wareham with a six and a four. From the eighth over onwards, every over until the 17th contained at least one boundary.

Both batters targeted the off side. They punished loose deliveries with cuts, cover drives, and square drives. Radha reached her maiden WPL fifty in the 15th over. By then, Ghosh had also found her rhythm.

Their acceleration brought up a century stand, only the second 100-plus partnership between two Indian batters in WPL history. The stand lifted RCB from 43 for 4 to a strong position.

Late surge pushes RCB past 180

After Ghosh was dismissed, Nadine de Klerk added vital runs at the death. She smashed two fours and two sixes in the 19th over, taking 22 runs off Kashvee Gautam.

RCB enjoyed some luck during this phase. De Klerk was dropped by Ashleigh Gardner, while Radha survived after a successful DRS call in the 11th over.

RCB eventually finished on 182 for 7, a competitive total after their early struggles.

Giants start fast but lose momentum

Gujarat Giants began their chase aggressively. Lauren Bell missed her lines early, and Beth Mooney flicked the first ball she faced for four. Bell’s next over went for a six and two fours as GG raced to 32 without loss.

However, RCB struck back quickly. Arundhati Reddy took a sharp return catch to dismiss Devine. In the following over, Shreyanka Patil trapped Mooney lbw by bowling around the wicket.

Patil and Bell turn the game

The middle overs proved decisive. Kanika Ahuja showed promise, but Patil once again went around the wicket and beat her defence to claim another lbw.

At 70 for 5, Gujarat Giants were under heavy pressure, and the chase looked nearly over.

Bharti Fulmali and Kashvee Gautam then tried to revive the innings. Fulmali attacked anything full and cleared the boundary with ease. RCB dropped a few chances, including Fulmali and Kashvee, which allowed the partnership to grow.

Patil returned at the right time and dismissed Kashvee with a flighted delivery that was caught at long-on.

RCB close out a clinical win

The Giants continued to go for big shots, but the required rate kept climbing. Bell returned to break the resistance by deceiving Fulmali with a slower ball. Two balls later, she used the same variation to dismiss Shivani Singh.

Patil finished the job in the 19th over by taking two more wickets. Gujarat Giants fell short by 32 runs, despite several batters getting starts and only one partnership crossing fifty.

RCB’s balanced performance with both bat and ball underlined their strong form as they maintained their unbeaten run in WPL 2026.
