RCB Script Record Chase to Defeat Delhi Capitals in WPL Final
RCB completed a record 204-run chase in the WPL 2026 final as Mandhana and Voll’s match-winning partnership led them to a six-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) outclassed Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets in the final match of the Women's Premier League 2026 at Kotambi in Vadodara. After being invited to bat first, Delhi Capitals put 203/4 on the scoreboard in 20 overs with a combined effort from their top-order batters. Jemimah Rodrigues hit a blazing half-century, while Laura Wolvaardt and Lizelle Lee made useful contributions. While chasing, RCB pulled off the highest successful chase in Women’s Premier League history to clinch their second championship.

Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll played the defining roles in the chase. They joined forces when RCB were 9/1 while chasing 204 and built a stunning 165-run partnership off just 92 balls. This became the highest stand for any wicket in WPL history. The match stayed tense till the very last moments, as RCB nearly stumbled at the end before sealing a dramatic win.

RCB lost three wickets in just 14 balls near the finish. With eight runs required off four deliveries, Radha Yadav struck two consecutive boundaries off N. Shree Charani to complete a memorable victory. This win also marked the second time RCB defeated DC in a WPL final, after their first triumph in 2024.

Lee gives DC a strong start

After being asked to bat first, Delhi Capitals began cautiously before Lizelle Lee shifted gears. She smashed back-to-back sixes off Sayali Satghare in the fourth over. The over turned chaotic as wides added to the total, and Satghare ended up conceding 20 runs. She also dropped a chance to dismiss Shafali Verma.

However, Shafali could not make the most of the reprieve. She hit two fours off Arundhati Reddy in the sixth over but edged one to the keeper in the same over and departed for 20 off 13 balls.

Laura Wolvaardt then joined Lee, and the pair kept the momentum going. They attacked offspinner Shreyanka Patil in the seventh over, collecting 19 runs with three fours and a six.

Nadine de Klerk soon made an impact. After an lbw decision against Lee was overturned, de Klerk bounced back immediately. She forced Lee into a big shot, which resulted in a miscue that Grace Harris caught while running in from long-on.

Rodrigues and Henry lift DC’s total

Jemimah Rodrigues continued her excellent form and looked confident at the crease. She punished any loose delivery and ensured the scoring rate did not slow after Lee’s dismissal.

When Radha Yadav bowled a full delivery, Rodrigues elegantly drove it past extra cover for her first boundary. She continued to target that area, striking de Klerk and Patil for multiple fours in the middle overs. In the 10th and 11th overs, she kept attacking, including two more boundaries off Patil with a powerful slog over short midwicket and a sharp cut behind point.

Rodrigues brought up her half-century in just 32 balls. However, she fell soon after, hitting a full toss straight to deep backward square leg.

Wolvaardt built her innings patiently and later found her rhythm, clearing the ropes twice. In the final phase, Chinelle Henry caused major damage. She hammered de Klerk for three fours and a six in the 19th over, collecting 24 runs. Satghare then conceded 15 runs in the last over, pushing DC to 203 for 4 — the second-highest first-innings total in a Women’s T20 final.

Mandhana and Voll control the chase

RCB faced a tough target of 204. Still, they were the only team in WPL history to have chased a 200-plus score before, and they had dominated the season with five straight wins at the start to top the table.

Grace Harris gave the chase a quick start by hitting two fours off Marizanne Kapp in the opening over. But Henry struck immediately, knocking over Harris’ middle stump with her first ball to dismiss her for 9.

Georgia Voll then joined Mandhana and began confidently. She used innovative strokes early, including a scoop over short fine leg for her first boundary. The pair kept the run rate in control, regularly finding gaps and attacking all bowlers.

Mandhana looked in complete command. When Nandani Sharma bowled a slower ball in her hitting zone, Mandhana got down on one knee and sent it over deep square leg for her first six.

Voll reached her half-century in 36 balls, by which time RCB had already completed more than half the chase. Mandhana soon followed with her own milestone, bringing up her fastest WPL fifty off just 23 balls with a drive over extra cover off Sneh Rana.

The scoring stayed steady. Rana and Shree Charani both conceded 15 runs each in the 12th and 14th overs, and the target began to look achievable with Mandhana and Voll in control.

Late drama but RCB hold their nerve

Delhi finally broke the huge partnership when Minnu Mani dismissed Voll, who scored a brilliant 79 off 54 balls. At that stage, RCB still needed 30 runs from 21 balls, with key batters still at the crease.

The match turned tense again. Nandani Sharma dismissed Richa Ghosh cheaply in the 18th over, and Henry then removed Mandhana for a superb 87 in the next over. DC sensed a comeback.

With 13 needed from 8 balls, Mani dropped a crucial catch in the covers off new batter Radha Yadav. That mistake proved costly.

RCB needed 10 runs in the final over. Radha held her nerve and smashed two back-to-back boundaries to finish the chase and seal the title, leaving Delhi Capitals heartbroken once again.
