India Under-19 crushed England Under-19 by 100 runs in the final of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2026 at Harare, Zimbabwe. After choosing to bat first, India posted a massive 411/9 in 50 overs, powered by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s blazing 175 off just 80 balls. He hit 15 fours and 15 sixes in his stunning knock. Ayush Mhatre also scored a half-century and supported Sooryavanshi well throughout the innings. James Minto (3/63 in 8 overs) was the most successful bowler for England.
In reply, England started well but lost momentum in the middle overs. At one stage, they looked set to be bundled out for under 200, but Caleb Matthew Falconer hit a brilliant century. His fighting innings was not enough as England ran out of wickets. As a result, they were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs. Ambrish R S (3/56 in 9 overs) was the most successful bowler for India.
This is India’s sixth U19 World Cup title, the highest by any team in the tournament’s history. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named Player of the Match as well as Player of the Tournament.
Explosive start with the bat
India won the toss and chose to bat first. They lost semi-final hero Aaron George early, but the setback did not slow them down. Opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took charge and attacked the English bowlers from the beginning.
His aggressive batting left England struggling for answers. Captain Thomas Rew kept changing plans to stop the flow of runs, but Sooryavanshi continued to break records with his powerful strokeplay. At the other end, skipper Ayush Mhatre supported him well and scored 53 runs off 51 balls.
Sooryavanshi’s record-breaking knock
After Mhatre got out, Sooryavanshi raised the tempo even more. He smashed boundaries all around the ground and made it look like India could cross the 500-run mark. He also looked set for a double century. However, Manny Lumsden finally dismissed him after a breathtaking 175 off just 80 balls.
Following his departure, another 50-run partnership helped India stay strong. England then fought back briefly and picked up three wickets quickly, but the Indian lower order held firm. Their efforts helped India finish with a massive 411/9 in 50 overs, one of the biggest totals in a U19 World Cup final.
England begin chase with hope
Chasing such a huge total was always going to be tough. Still, England took confidence from India’s successful 310-run chase against Afghanistan in the semi-final at the same ground.
India struck early when Ambrish took the first wicket with England at 19. However, Dawkins held one end steady, while Ben Mayes and Thomas Rew played attacking shots to keep the chase alive. India stayed calm and kept picking wickets at the right moments.
Turning point in the 21st over
The match changed dramatically in the 21st over. England were in a good position with the score past 170 and seven wickets still in hand. But in that over, they lost set batter Dawkins and Ralphine Albert. India seized the opportunity and quickly removed two more batters while giving away just three runs. This shift broke the momentum of England’s chase.
With England at 177 for 7, India sensed victory.
Late fight from Falconer and Minto
Caleb Falconer and James Minto tried to keep England in the game. Falconer played attractive shots, while Minto rotated the strike smartly. Their 92-run partnership frustrated the Indian team and briefly raised hopes of a comeback. Falconer even reached a fine half-century under pressure.
However, Ambrish struck again and dismissed Minto, bringing India closer to the title.
India seal the title
Falconer continued to fight bravely and even scored a superb century. He stood strong till the end and made the chase interesting despite losing partners. Eventually, Kanishk Chouhan dismissed him for 115 off 67 balls. England were all out for 311.
India won the final by 100 runs and created history by securing their sixth U19 World Cup title, confirming their dominance in youth cricket.
