LDP Secures Clear Majority
Takaichi achieved a decisive mandate in the snap election held on Sunday. Her party, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), won a clear majority in the powerful lower house of Japan’s parliament.
According to early reports by Japanese media, the LDP secured 271 seats. This number is well above the 261 seats needed for an absolute majority in the 465-member House of Representatives. The strong result strengthens Takaichi’s political position and gives her government a stable base to carry forward its policies.
Focus on Economy and Investments
After the victory, Takaichi spoke to public broadcaster NHK in a televised interview. She said her government would move ahead with its policy plans, especially in the economic sector.
“We will prioritise the sustainability of fiscal policy. We will ensure necessary investments. Public and private sectors must invest. We will build a strong and resilient economy," she said.
Her comments signal a clear focus on maintaining financial stability, boosting investments, and strengthening Japan’s economic foundation. The election result is being seen as strong public support for her leadership and policy direction.
