Abhishek Sharma Hospitalised with Stomach Infection Ahead of Namibia Clash
Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalised in Delhi with a stomach infection, putting his availability for the Namibia T20 World Cup match in doubt.

Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma has been admitted to a hospital after suffering from a stomach infection, according to a PTI report quoting a source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The 25-year-old batter, who is known for his strong performances in limited-overs cricket, was taken to a private hospital in Delhi. He has been under medical care for the past two days.

Namibia match participation uncertain

His sudden illness comes just before India’s next match against Namibia in the ongoing T20 World Cup. This has created uncertainty over whether he will be able to play in the fixture.

"Abhishek has been admitted to a private hospital in Delhi due to stomach infection. Some tests are being done to ascertain the problem. It is still not clear whether he will be discharged today. But match against Namibia looks doubtful as of now," a BCCI source told PTI.

So far, no official update has been shared about how serious the infection is.

Team hopeful for Pakistan clash return

Despite the current situation, the team management remains optimistic about his recovery. They are hoping he will be fit in time for the high-profile match against Pakistan in Colombo on February 15, as reported by PTI.

Left team dinner early before illness

It has also been learnt that Sharma attended a dinner at head coach Gautam Gambhir’s residence on Sunday. However, he left much earlier than the rest of his teammates, which may have been an early sign that he was not feeling well.
