UAE defeated Canada by five wickets in the 20th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Canada put 150/7 on the scoreboard in 20 overs after deciding to bat first. Harsh Thaker made a superb half-century under pressure that helped Canada reach 150. Junaid Siddique (5/35 in 4 overs) remained the most successful bowler for UAE.
In reply, UAE chased down the target with two balls to spare, thanks to a composed knock by Aryansh Sharma and a blazing half-century by Sohaib Khan. Saad Bin Zafar (3/14 in 4 overs) tried his best and demolished the top order of UAE, but Aryansh Sharma and Sohaib Khan rescued the team. In the end, UAE crossed the finish line with two balls to spare.
Canada’s Innings
Harsh Thaker played a superb knock of 50 runs off 41 balls under pressure when Canada lost three early wickets in the powerplay. He built an important partnership of 58 runs with Navneet Dhaliwal for the fourth wicket and then added 33 runs with Shreyas Movva for the fifth wicket before being dismissed by Junaid Siddique in the 18th over. Junaid Siddique (5/35 in 4 overs) remained the standout bowler for UAE.
UAE’s Chase
Kaleem Sana gave an early blow to UAE in the third over. UAE played cautiously while the Canadian bowlers kept the scoring rate in check. Saad Bin Zafar (3/14 in 4 overs) demolished the top order, and at the halfway stage, UAE was struggling at 66/4 in 12.3 overs. Aryansh Sharma kept his cool while wickets kept falling around him.
Match-Turning Partnership
Sohaib Khan, who came in at No. 6, played a blazing knock of 51 runs off just 29 balls. He stitched a quick partnership of 84 runs with Aryansh Sharma and brought UAE close to the finishing mark. Although Jaskaran Singh dismissed him when UAE needed one run to win with three balls to spare, Muhammad Irfan took a single on the next delivery to avoid any further drama, and UAE won the match by five wickets with two balls to spare.
