New MPs to Take Oath on February 17

The newly elected members of parliament (MPs) will take their oaths on February 17. Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid confirmed the schedule. This step marks the official start of the new government.

Global Leaders to Attend

Meanwhile, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, has invited leaders from 13 countries. The list includes China, Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Turkey, the UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Maldives, and Bhutan. Their presence highlights Bangladesh’s growing international relations.

BNP Looks Forward to Working with India

BNP responded to Prime Minister Modi’s congratulatory message on ‘X’, “Thank you very much. We greatly appreciate your kind acknowledgement of Tarique Rahman’s leadership in securing the BNP’s decisive win in the national elections. We look forward to engaging constructively with India to advance our multifaceted relationship, guided by mutual respect, sensitivity to each other’s concerns, and a shared commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity in our region.”

Earlier, in his first phone call with Rahman after the election victory, PM Modi expressed his interest in working with BNP to strengthen ties between the two countries.
