Israel’s Parliament building has been lit up in the colours of the Indian flag before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s important visit to the country.
Knesset Glows in Indian Tricolour
The building of the Knesset was illuminated in saffron, white and green to honour PM Modi ahead of his arrival on Wednesday. He will spend two days in Israel and is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Amir Ohana, Speaker of the Israeli Parliament, posted a photo of the glowing building on X. He wrote, “In tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Knesset is illuminated tonight in the colors of the Indian flag."
The gesture signals the warmth in ties between the two nations and highlights the importance of the visit.

Focus on Strategic Partnership
Officials have described the trip as a major effort to strengthen the long-standing strategic relationship between India and Israel. Both sides will discuss shared challenges. They will also work to “realign efforts towards achieving their shared vision for a robust partnership between two resilient democracies”.
The visit aims to deepen cooperation in key sectors and push the relationship to a higher level.
Ties to Be Upgraded
During the visit, India and Israel are expected to raise their relationship to a “special strategic partnership”. Officials say this will mark a “significant leap ahead”, placing India in a category similar to countries like the United States and Germany in Israel’s diplomatic framework.
This will be PM Modi’s second visit to Israel in nine years. During his first visit in July 2017, the two countries had already elevated their ties to a strategic partnership.
The new “special strategic partnership” will take cooperation further. It will promote joint development of advanced defence systems. It will also include an understanding that both nations will support each other in times of crisis.
Sources told PTI, “The two countries have been reliable partners over the years and it has been proven in hours of crises. This is only being formally recognised during PM Modi’s visit”.
The upcoming meetings are expected to formalise this stronger framework and expand collaboration across multiple sectors.
