US State Department Urges Americans to ‘Depart Now’ From West Asia
The US State Department urges Americans to “depart now” from West Asia as rising Iran-linked tensions heighten fears of a prolonged regional conflict.

The US State Department has released an urgent advisory asking American citizens in West Asia to “depart now” because of rising violence and growing security threats. The warning comes as tensions across the region increase sharply.

US Issues Immediate Departure Warning

The advisory follows joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on targets inside Iran. After those attacks, Iran carried out retaliatory actions across the region. As a result, officials fear the conflict could expand into a wider and more dangerous confrontation.

The State Department said the security environment has worsened quickly. It urged Americans to leave while commercial travel options are still available.

Officials Say Threat Situation Is Deteriorating

Mora Namdar, the department’s Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs, said US nationals should leave the Middle East “using available commercial transportation” as soon as possible. She stressed that risks have increased rapidly.

In response to the crisis, the department has set up an emergency inter-agency task force. This team will coordinate efforts and provide guidance and assistance to US citizens in the region.

Advisory Covers More Than a Dozen Countries

The warning applies to several countries across West Asia. These include Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

According to the department, clashes in these areas pose serious and unpredictable risks to foreign nationals. In some places, US embassies have already taken safety measures. These steps include reducing staff or evacuating personnel due to specific threats.

Practical Steps for Americans

The advisory urges US citizens to sign up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). This program allows travellers to receive real-time alerts and security updates.

Officials also advised Americans to book commercial flights and leave while services are still operating. The department has provided a 24/7 helpline for those who need assistance arranging travel.

Washington Fears Wider Conflict

The departure warning shows growing concern in Washington that the crisis could spread and last longer than expected. The conflict began after strikes targeting Iran’s leadership. Since then, tensions have continued to rise.

Donald Trump has said that military operations could continue for weeks. Meanwhile, countries across the region are preparing for possible further escalation as the situation remains unstable and uncertain.
