Police in Toronto responded to reports of gunfire near the United States consulate early Tuesday. Authorities later confirmed that officers found evidence indicating that a firearm had been discharged at the location.
Despite the incident, officials said no one was injured.
Toronto police shared details of the response in a post on X. Officers said they received reports about the gunfire at around 5:29 am local time, which corresponds to 0929 GMT.
Investigation Ongoing
Law enforcement officials said the investigation is still in its early stages. At present, police have not identified any suspect linked to the shooting.
In another update posted on X, Toronto police said they currently have no information about who may have carried out the act. Officers are continuing to gather evidence and examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities also said they have not yet determined a motive behind the gunfire.
Incident Follows Blast at US Embassy in Norway
The shooting incident occurred just days after another security concern involving a US diplomatic facility.
On Sunday, an improvised explosive device detonated at the US embassy in Oslo, Norway. Police in Norway are still trying to locate a suspect connected to the explosion.
Investigators are examining whether the blast could be related to tensions linked to the ongoing Iran war.
Terror Charges in New York
Meanwhile, authorities in the United States have taken action in a separate case linked to violence over the weekend.
In New York City, two men were charged with terrorism after they allegedly threw a homemade bomb at a group of anti-Islam protesters.
Officials have not provided additional details about the suspects or the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
