The war in West Asia has intensified as fighting continues between Iran and its adversaries. Military action has expanded across several areas, and the number of casualties is increasing as the conflict deepens.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly criticised the recent US strike on Iran. He described the operation as a serious miscalculation by Washington. Araghchi called it “Operation Epic Mistake – a misadventure engineered by Israel and paid for by ordinary Americans”.
His remarks highlight growing tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel as the conflict enters a new phase.
Iran Rejects Claims Its Missile Programme Was Destroyed
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has rejected US claims that its missile programme has been eliminated. According to the Guard, Iran still possesses strong missile capabilities and continues to launch attacks using projectiles equipped with very heavy warheads.
Officials said these weapons carry warheads weighing more than one tonne, or about 2,200 pounds, and are being launched in greater numbers despite ongoing strikes on Iranian facilities.
Iran’s New Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Reportedly Injured
Reports have also emerged about the condition of Iran’s newly appointed supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. An Iranian official said the leader suffered minor injuries but is continuing to perform his duties. However, the official did not provide details about when the injury occurred.
He has also not addressed the public since assuming the leadership position, which has raised questions during the ongoing conflict. Authorities across the region are continuing to monitor the rapidly evolving situation as hostilities spread.
US Signals Most Intense Day of Strikes
The United States has indicated that its military operations against Iran could escalate further. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Tuesday would witness the most intense round of American strikes on Iran since the conflict began.
The statement suggests that Washington is preparing to increase pressure on Tehran through expanded military operations.
Israel and Hezbollah Continue Cross-Border Attacks
At the same time, fighting has continued along Israel’s northern border. Israel and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah have kept exchanging attacks. Israeli strikes in Lebanon have pushed the death toll close to 500 people as the conflict spreads across the region.
