Los Angeles on High Alert Ahead of Oscars After FBI Warning
Authorities increased security for the 98th Academy Awards after the FBI warned about a possible Iran-linked drone threat targeting the US West Coast.

The Academy Awards are just three days away. The event will honour the best films released last year. Hollywood’s biggest stars will gather for the ceremony. The awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The red carpet is already in place. Comedian Conan O'Brien will host the show.

However, reports about a possible security threat have raised concerns just days before the ceremony.

FBI Warns of Possible Drone Threat

The Federal Bureau of Investigation recently warned authorities across California about a possible drone attack. Reports say the threat could come from Iran. The warning suggests the attack could target the US West Coast. Officials believe it could be retaliation for recent American military actions.

Tensions between Iran and Israel remain high. This has increased security concerns in the region. Officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department did not comment directly on the alert. However, they said authorities are working at a higher level of readiness. They are also maintaining extra vigilance.

According to Variety, officials increased security around the venue. However, most of the additional measures are not visible to the public.

Organisers Emphasise Safety

The organisers of the Academy Awards say safety remains their top priority. Executive producer Raj Kapoor addressed the issue during a press conference earlier this week. He said the team works closely with security agencies every year.

The organisers coordinate with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Los Angeles Police Department to monitor global developments and protect the event.

He said, “This show has to run like clockwork. But we want everybody who is coming to this show, who is witnessing the show, who is even a fan of the show, when they’re standing outside the barricades. We want everybody to feel safe, protected, and welcome. It’s our job as a producing team to make sure that that translates, and that really comes down to us with this very tight relationship, and we have a whole other team of support. It’s something that we don’t take lightly and we take a lot of responsibility for."

Ceremony Set for March 15

The 98th Oscars will take place on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre. The ceremony will air in more than 200 countries. Viewers in the United States can watch it live on ABC. The event will also stream on Hulu the same day. Authorities will continue to monitor the situation as the ceremony approaches.
