US President Donald Trump on Tuesday told countries facing fuel shortages due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to “build some courage and get their own oil”.
The crucial route, which carries nearly 20% of the world’s oil and gas supply, has remained blocked following retaliatory strikes by Iran after the February 28 attacks by the United States and Israel.
Tensions Rise Over Global Fuel Disruptions
The closure of the Strait has disrupted global energy supplies. Ships transporting oil and gas have faced repeated attacks from Iranian projectiles, worsening the crisis.
Trump has repeatedly called on other countries to support efforts to reopen the route. However, he expressed frustration over the lack of backing for US military actions against Iran.
Trump’s Message to Affected Countries
In a post on Truth Social, Trump gave two “suggestions” to countries struggling with jet fuel shortages.
“All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT," he wrote.
He further added, “You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil! President DJT,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Conflict Shows No Signs of Easing
The conflict between the United States and Iran continues to intensify, with both sides carrying out strikes. Trump has also sent mixed signals, at times suggesting progress in diplomatic talks while also warning of further escalation.
In a major development, the US targeted Isfahan, which hosts one of Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities. Trump shared footage of the strike on social media without any caption, drawing further attention to the ongoing conflict.
