A projectile hit an area near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant on Saturday, killing one person, according to Iranian media. This is the fourth time the site has been struck since the conflict began.
Authorities said the victim was a member of the facility’s security team. He died after being hit by fragments from the blast. The impact also damaged a building at the site due to shockwaves and debris. Officials confirmed that radiation levels remain stable and there has been no leak.
IAEA Chief Raises Serious Concerns
International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi expressed strong concern over the incident. He said nuclear plants and nearby areas must never be targeted under any circumstances.
Grossi warned that even buildings not directly linked to reactors may contain critical safety systems. Any strike near such facilities can be extremely dangerous.
He urged all sides to show restraint and avoid further escalation.

Rising Global Worry Over Nuclear Safety
The repeated attacks near sensitive nuclear sites have raised global concern. Experts fear that continued strikes could lead to a serious nuclear accident. Such an event could trigger a wider environmental and humanitarian crisis.
So far, international observers, including the IAEA, have not reported any radiation leaks despite multiple incidents.
Russia Plans Evacuation of Staff
Russia is now planning to evacuate its remaining personnel from the Bushehr plant. According to RIA Novosti, Russia will ask the United States and Israel for a temporary ceasefire to carry out the evacuation safely.
Alexey Likhachev, head of Russia’s nuclear agency, said evacuation routes will be shared with both countries. He added that all efforts will be made to ensure no military activity takes place during the movement.
Final Phase of Evacuation Expected Soon
Likhachev said the “final phase" of evacuation will likely take place next week. Around 200 personnel are expected to leave during this phase.
