IPL 2026: Tim David, Patidar Power RCB to Big Win Over CSK
RCB crushed CSK by 43 runs after posting a massive 250, securing their second straight win in IPL 2026.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) outclassed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 43 runs in the 11th match of IPL 2026 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. After being invited to bat, RCB posted a massive total of 250/3 in 20 overs. Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave the team a flying start, adding 37 runs for the first wicket. After Kohli was dismissed in the fifth over, Salt built a quick 56-run partnership with Devdutt Padikkal, who scored a blazing half-century.

The highlight of the innings was a 99-run partnership between Rajat Patidar and Tim David for the fourth wicket, which came in just 35 balls. Tim David scored 70 off 25 balls, while Patidar remained unbeaten on 48 off 19 balls. For CSK, Shivam Dube (1/30 in 2 overs) was the most successful bowler. Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj picked up one wicket each.

In the chase, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/41 in 4 overs) and Jacob Duffy (2/58 in 4 overs) struck early, reducing CSK to three wickets down within the first three overs. Sarfaraz Khan played a quick knock of 50 off 29 balls and gave some hope, but he was dismissed in the seventh over. CSK struggled at 108/6 around the halfway mark.

Prashant Veer and Overton played aggressive innings that helped CSK cross the 200-run mark. However, the team was bowled out for 207 with two balls remaining, falling short by 43 runs. Abhinandan Singh and Krunal Pandya also took two wickets each. This win marks RCB’s second consecutive victory, while CSK suffered their third straight defeat.

Strong Finish Powers RCB to Huge Total

RCB started cautiously and were 91 for 1 after ten overs. However, they completely changed gears in the second half of the innings. Their batters went on an all-out attack and nearly tripled the score in the last ten overs.

They finished with a massive 250 for 3, which became their third-highest total in IPL history and the highest score ever made against CSK in the league.

In reply, CSK struggled right from the beginning. They lost their top three wickets within the first three overs and eventually slipped to their third consecutive loss in IPL 2026.

Pitch Conditions Challenged Early Batting

The surface at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was not easy at the start. Devdutt Padikkal, who scored a quick half-century, said the pitch felt sticky early on. The outfield was also slower than usual, which meant many well-timed shots did not reach the boundary.

As the innings progressed, the pitch became better for batting. However, the outfield continued to slow things down. This did not trouble RCB’s power hitters, especially Tim David and Rajat Patidar, who preferred clearing the boundary instead.

The duo faced 44 balls together and smashed 14 sixes. In comparison, the entire CSK batting line-up managed only 11 sixes.

Early Struggles Before Acceleration

After being asked to bat, RCB took 20 balls to score their first boundary. CSK bowlers Matt Henry and Khaleel Ahmed bowled tight lines and made scoring difficult for Phil Salt and Virat Kohli.

Kohli was dismissed for 28 off 18 balls by Anshul Kamboj, caught by Shivam Dube. Interestingly, Dube made up for an earlier dropped catch of Kohli.

Salt also found it tough initially but later picked up momentum. He scored 46 off 30 balls before Dube dismissed him with a clever slower delivery.

Padikkal had a slow start but accelerated brilliantly. He reached his fifty in 28 balls, marking his second consecutive half-century. Still, his innings was overshadowed by what followed.

David and Patidar Create Late Chaos

The turning point came when Tim David and Rajat Patidar joined forces at 151 for 3 in the 15th over after Jamie Overton dismissed Padikkal with a fast delivery. From there, the match completely changed.

David took control and played an explosive unbeaten knock of 70. Out of the final 35 balls, he faced 25 and dominated the bowlers. His hitting reached another level in the 19th over, where he smashed Overton for 6, 4, 6, 6, 6 — collecting 30 runs in that over alone.

One of those sixes traveled 106 metres and went out of the stadium, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Even Kohli, watching from the dressing room, stood up to applaud.

At the other end, Patidar played a supporting yet impactful role. He remained unbeaten on 48 off just 19 balls. Despite facing very few deliveries late in the innings, he had already played some remarkable shots earlier, including big sixes off Noor Ahmad and Khaleel.

CSK Fight Back but Fall Short

Chasing a massive target, CSK had a poor start. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early by dismissing Ayush Mhatre for just 1. This wicket also marked his 200th IPL wicket, placing him just behind Yuzvendra Chahal in the all-time list.

Jacob Duffy further dented CSK’s hopes by removing Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad early. Despite the setbacks, CSK tried to fight back. Sarfaraz Khan played an aggressive innings, scoring 50 off 24 balls. However, he was stumped on the very next delivery by Krunal Pandya.

Prashant Veer also impressed with a quick 43 off 29 balls, showing glimpses of his talent. Overton added some quick runs as well, but the earlier damage proved too much. CSK were eventually bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs, falling well short of the target.
