US President Donald Trump announced a two-week pause in military action after accepting a 14-day ceasefire proposal from mediators. Soon after, Iran’s National Security Council issued a strong statement. It said the United States had been forced to accept Iran’s ten-point proposal.
Iran Says US Was ‘Forced’ to Agree
In response, the council praised the Iranian people. It highlighted their role in the conflict and said, “The noble people of Iran should know that, thanks to the sacrifices of their children and their historic presence on the scene, the enemy has been begging for a ceasefire for over a month.”
Therefore, Iran claimed it pushed the US into accepting the deal.
Tehran Declares Clear Victory
At the same time, Iran declared victory and said it achieved its goals. The council stressed that it rejected all deadlines set by the US. According to the statement, Iran did not take any warning from Washington seriously.
Earlier, Trump had warned Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face consequences.
He wrote, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump had written.
‘Good News for the People of Iran’
Meanwhile, the council called the outcome a success and shared a message with citizens: “We now give good news to the great nation of Iran that almost all war objectives have been achieved, and your brave sons have driven the enemy into historic helplessness and a lasting defeat.”
In other words, Iran believes it has achieved most of its war objectives.
Key Points of Iran’s Proposal
Notably, Iran rejected all earlier offers. Instead, it sent its own ten-point plan to the US through Pakistan.
The proposal includes:
- Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz
- A complete end to the war on all fronts
- Withdrawal of US forces from the region
- Secure navigation in the Strait under Iran’s supervision
Talks to Take Place in Islamabad
Following this, Iran agreed to join negotiations in Islamabad. This move came after directions from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Now, officials aim to finalise the agreement within 15 days. They want to turn military gains into political results.
Ceasefire Does Not End the War
However, Iran made its position clear. It said the ceasefire is only temporary. It added that, the war will end only after both sides finalise all parts of the proposal.
For now, negotiations will decide the next phase of the conflict.
