Iran Slams Trump’s Remarks Amid Rising Strait of Hormuz Dispute
Iran warns of “appropriate response” to US actions in the Strait of Hormuz and rejects pressure from Washington.

Iran has strongly criticised Donald Trump, warning that any interference in the Strait of Hormuz will trigger a firm reaction. Tehran said the United States cannot dictate terms in the region, especially in such a sensitive and strategic waterway.

‘US cannot impose its will’

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh made the remarks while addressing growing tensions.

“Americans cannot impose their will to do a siege over Iran while Iran, with good intention, is trying to facilitate safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.

His statement came amid rising friction between the two countries over control and access to the crucial shipping route.

Criticism of Trump’s statements

Saeed Khatibzadeh also criticised Donald Trump for his remarks and communication style. He said the US president “talks too much” and often sends mixed signals.

“The American side tweets a lot, talks a lot. Sometimes confusing, sometimes, you know, contradictory,” Khatibzadeh told journalists. He made these comments while speaking on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in southern Türkiye.

No timeline yet for fresh talks

Khatibzadeh also clarified that there is no fixed date for the next round of Iran-US negotiations. These talks are being mediated by Pakistan after earlier efforts failed to produce an agreement.

“Until we agree on the framework, we cannot set the date,” he said.

Focus on avoiding failed negotiations

Iran said it is currently working on building a clear framework for discussions before moving ahead with formal talks.

“Now we are focusing on finalising the framework of understanding between two sides. We don’t want to enter into any negotiation or meeting which is due to failure which can be pretext for another round of escalation,” he said.

This approach reflects Tehran’s attempt to avoid talks that could collapse and further increase tensions.
