Trump Says No Deadline for Iran War, Denies Midterm Pressure
Trump rules out any deadline for the Iran conflict as ceasefire holds and fresh talks appear likely.

US President Donald Trump has made it clear that there is no fixed timeline for the ongoing conflict with Iran. He also said that the upcoming midterm elections in the United States will not affect his decisions regarding the situation.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump stressed that there is “no time pressure” linked to the current ceasefire. This marks a shift from his earlier remark, where he suggested the war could last four to six weeks.

“People say I want to get it over because of the midterms, not true,” Trump said. He added that his administration aims to “get a good deal for the American people.”

Fresh Peace Talks Likely Soon

Trump also hinted at possible progress in diplomacy. He said that “good news” regarding a second round of talks with Iran could come as early as Friday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has been playing a mediating role between the two sides. Officials in Islamabad confirmed that they are continuing efforts to bring both countries back to the negotiating table.

According to a report by the New York Post, a Pakistani source said, “The ceasefire is holding despite heightened rhetoric, indicating positive intent on both sides.” The source also noted, “No military escalation from either side.”

Iran Refuses to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

Despite the ceasefire, Iran has taken a firm stance on a key issue. It has refused to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as long as a US naval blockade continues.

Iran acknowledged Pakistan’s mediation efforts but did not directly respond to Trump’s recent comments.

Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said, “A complete ceasefire only has meaning if it is not violated through a naval blockade.” He further added, “Reopening the Strait of Hormuz is not possible amid a blatant violation of the ceasefire.”

Tensions Continue Despite Ceasefire

The situation remains tense even though active fighting has paused. Iran’s elite forces, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, claimed they had forced two ships from the Strait of Hormuz onto Iranian shores.

This waterway is extremely important as it handles nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply. Any disruption there can have a major global impact.
