Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, arrived in Iran on Saturday for a two-day official visit aimed at helping restart stalled peace talks between Tehran and Washington, according to Iranian media reports.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni welcomed Naqvi in Tehran. The visit came only days after Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir travelled to Iran, highlighting Islamabad’s increasing diplomatic involvement in the region.
Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that Pakistan was continuing efforts to encourage dialogue and reduce tensions after the fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
Trump’s Cryptic Post Raises Speculation
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump posted a mysterious message on Truth Social on Sunday amid rising tensions linked to Iran and the Strait of Hormuz crisis.
“It Was The Calm Before The Storm,” Trump wrote.
The post included an AI-generated image showing Trump aboard a US Navy ship wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap beside a naval officer. The image featured stormy seas, lightning, and Iranian ships in the background, increasing speculation about possible military escalation in the region.
The post appeared as reports suggested the Trump administration was considering fresh military action against Iran after a temporary pause in hostilities.
Iran Eases Restrictions in Strait of Hormuz
At the same time, Iran has started relaxing restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes. Iranian state television reported that the naval branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was allowing more ships to pass through the waterway.
Tehran had tightened controls in the strait after conflict erupted on February 28 and following US-Israeli military strikes. Soon afterward, reports said the United States increased pressure on Iran by imposing restrictions on Iranian ports.
A state TV reporter speaking from Bandar Abbas said several countries had accepted the “new legal protocols” introduced by Iran and the IRGC for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media also reported that more than 30 ships had received permission to pass through the route the previous day.
US Weighs Next Steps on Iran
According to a report by The New York Times, Trump returned from Beijing facing major decisions regarding Iran. Senior advisers were reportedly preparing contingency plans for possible renewed strikes if diplomatic negotiations fail.
The report also said the US and its allies were discussing a compromise deal that could convince Iran to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz while allowing Trump to present the outcome as a diplomatic success.
Iran Speaks of a ‘New Global Order’
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the world was moving toward a “new order” in global politics. Referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping and his vision of geopolitical change, Ghalibaf claimed Iran’s resistance against pressure from the US and Israel had accelerated the decline of Western influence.
In a post on X, he said Iran’s “70-day resistance” had become an important factor in reshaping global power dynamics and added that the future would belong to countries in the Global South.
