Scotland | Netherlands | Bangladesh Women T20I Tri-Series: Fraser and Carter Guide Scotland Women to Easy Win Over Netherlands
Scotland Women defeated Netherlands Women by nine wickets in the tri-series opener in Edinburgh, thanks to a strong bowling display from Kirstie Gordon and fluent half-centuries from Katherine Fraser and Darcey Carter.

Scotland Women produced a dominant performance to beat Netherlands Women by nine wickets with 31 balls remaining in the first match of the tri-series in Edinburgh. Bangladesh is the third team participating in the tri-series. After opting to bat first, Netherlands Women scored 141/8 in 20 overs. Robine Rijke was the top scorer for the Netherlands Women. Kirstie Gordon (3/27 in 4 overs) was the most successful bowler for Scotland Women.

While chasing a target of 142, Scotland’s opening pair of Katherine Fraser and Darcey Carter made the chase look easy. Both batters scored half-centuries. Although Darcey Carter was dismissed before reaching the finish line, she played a superb knock and guided her team to a comfortable win alongside Katherine Fraser.

Netherlands Start Well but Lose Momentum

Netherlands began their innings positively after choosing to bat first. They reached 47 for 1 inside the first four overs. Opener Heather Siegers led the early charge with aggressive batting. She scored 32 off just 16 balls, hitting seven boundaries. However, she was dismissed immediately after her quick start by Kathryn Bryce, which slowed the scoring rate.

Babette de Leede and Robine Rijke then added 22 runs slowly before Netherlands suffered a collapse. They lost three wickets for just nine runs in a short span. Kirstie Gordon struck twice as the Netherlands were reduced to 78 for 5 in the 11th over.

Late Fightback Pushes Netherlands to 141

Rijke and Frederique Overdijk then stabilised the innings with a crucial 53-run partnership off 45 balls. Their stand ended when Katherine Fraser dismissed Overdijk for 22. Rijke also fell soon after for 46, and Netherlands were restricted to 141 all out.

Scotland Dominate the Chase

Scotland started their chase aggressively. Darcey Carter attacked from the beginning, hitting four boundaries in the first three overs. Scotland reached 28 runs in the first three overs and 30 without loss after four.

A costly over from Isabel van der Woning changed the momentum further. She conceded 29 runs in just 12 balls, including wides, a no-ball, and four boundaries. Carter brought up her half-century in just 33 balls, and Scotland reached 94 without loss by the tenth over.

Netherlands finally broke the opening stand when Overdijk dismissed Carter after a 100-run partnership. However, the result was already out of reach.

Fraser completed her half-century in the 15th over, and Kathryn Bryce finished the match with a boundary just three balls later, sealing a comfortable win for Scotland.
