An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Goa made an emergency landing at Mumbai airport on Thursday night after one of its engines failed mid-air. The incident raised fresh concerns just weeks after India’s deadliest air crash in a decade.
Engine Failure Triggers Mid-Air Emergency
The Airbus A320neo aircraft was flying as flight 6E-6271 when a technical snag was detected. The crew quickly followed standard emergency procedures. They declared a full emergency and diverted the flight to Mumbai.
The plane landed safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 9:52 PM.
IndiGo Confirms Technical Snag
An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed the incident and said, “Following procedures, the aircraft was diverted and landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai.”
Number of Passengers Unknown
Authorities have not yet released the number of passengers on board. However, “Full emergency declared for IndiGo flight 6E-6271, operating on the Delhi-Goa route after it was diverted to Mumbai due to one engine failure.”
Incident Comes After Recent Air India Crash
This scare comes shortly after the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, which killed 242 passengers and 19 people on the ground. It was the worst aviation disaster in India in the past 10 years.
