PM Modi Launches Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro and Vande Bharat Express
PM Modi will inaugurate Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro today, connecting Electronics City to the network and easing traffic in the city’s south.

Bengaluru will witness a major transport upgrade today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the city’s much-awaited Yellow Line Metro. This new corridor will finally connect the Electronics City tech hub to the wider metro network. The launch event, set for 10 a.m., will also mark the flag-off of the Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express.

Security and Traffic Arrangements

Officials have made detailed preparations for the high-profile visit. The Bengaluru traffic police have issued special travel guidelines to ensure smooth movement near the inauguration sites. After the launch, PM Modi is expected to address the public.

A “Game-Changer” for South Bengaluru

The Yellow Line is being described as a “game-changer” for the city’s southern stretch, especially in areas where rapid housing and industrial growth have outpaced public transport. It will link residential neighborhoods, tech parks, and manufacturing hubs, easing long-standing traffic troubles at busy spots like Silk Board Junction.

  • Route and Length – The line stretches 19.15 km from RV Road to Bommasandra, with 16 stations.

  • Major Stops – Important stations include Silk Board Junction, BTM Layout, Electronic City, and Bommasandra Industrial Area.

  • IT and Industry Links – It will connect south Bengaluru to big employers such as Infosys, Biocon, and TCS.

  • Project Cost – The corridor cost is estimated at ₹5,056.99 crore.

  • Commuter Capacity – Nearly 8 lakh passengers are expected to use it daily, according to PTI.

  • Traffic Relief – Silk Board Junction is likely to see major congestion reduction.

  • Service Timeline – Regular operations begin August 11, with three trains running every 25 minutes between RV Road and Bommasandra.
