Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday backed US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the Gaza war. He called it a clear step toward lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians.

Modi posted on X, “We welcome President Donald J. Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict. It provides a viable pathway to long term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region.”

Modi Urges Unity for Peace

The Prime Minister said he hopes all parties will support the initiative. He wrote, “We hope that all concerned will come together behind President Trump’s initiative and support this effort to end conflict and secure peace.”

Trump Announces Plan with Netanyahu

Trump revealed the peace plan on Monday at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel accepted the proposal, raising hopes for progress.

Global Support for the Proposal

Several nations welcomed Trump’s move. Countries like Canada, Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt joined India in backing the plan.

Main Points of Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

According to The New York Times, the plan has key features:

  • Gaza must observe an immediate ceasefire.

  • Gaza must become a “de-radicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.”

  • The territory will see redevelopment for the “benefit of the people of Gaza.”

  • Israeli forces will withdraw.

  • Hamas must release Israeli hostages.

  • After the war, a temporary, technocratic Palestinian committee will govern Gaza and manage public services.
