AAP to Serve as Opposition
Meanwhile, Kejriwal assured that AAP would continue to serve the people while acting as a responsible opposition. He emphasized that his party had made significant contributions in health, education, and infrastructure over the past ten years. "We have done a lot of work in the field of health, education, and infrastructure in the last 10 years. We will not only play the role of a constructive opposition but will also remain among the people and continue to serve them,"* he stated.Election Results: BJP Wins Big
As the results came in, it became clear that BJP had secured a strong victory. The party won 12 seats and was leading in 38 others. On the other hand, AAP managed to win 10 seats and was ahead in another 10. Meanwhile, Congress failed to secure a single seat once again. Notably, in the New Delhi constituency, BJP’s Parvesh Verma defeated Kejriwal by 4,089 votes. Verma received 30,088 votes, while Kejriwal got 25,999. In contrast, Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit managed only 4,568 votes.AAP’s Political History
Looking back, AAP first came to power in 2013 with Congress’s support. However, its government lasted only 49 days before resigning. Later, in 2015, the party made a remarkable comeback, winning 67 out of 70 seats. Similarly, in 2020, it secured a strong mandate with 62 seats. Despite these successes in Delhi, AAP has never won a parliamentary seat in the capital. Over the years, the party has faced several challenges. Many of its leaders, including Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, have been accused of corruption. Consequently, they, along with Sanjay Singh and Satyendar Jain, were jailed for months before being granted bail.Modi Calls BJP’s Win a Victory for Development
