A shocking video has surfaced online showing the exact moment a Russian Ka-226 helicopter crashed near the Caspian Sea, killing at least five people. The clip captures the aircraft’s final moments as it struggled to stay in the air before plunging into the water.
Helicopter Struggles Before Crashing
In the footage, the helicopter tilts dangerously while trying to take off from a sandy area close to the shoreline. It hovers low above the water, visibly unstable, as waves crash underneath. Moments later, its tail section snaps off, causing it to lose balance.
The pilot briefly manages to lift the chopper over shallow water, but control is quickly lost. Within seconds, the aircraft veers sharply and crashes into the sea, sending up a large spray of water.

Five Senior Officials Among Victims
Authorities confirmed that five people died in the crash, including top officials from KEMZ, a defence-linked aviation company. The victims were identified as the deputy general director, the chief engineer, the chief designer, and the helicopter’s flight mechanic.
Fire Breaks Out After Mid-Air Blaze
Russian media reported that the helicopter was flying from Kizlyar to Izberbash when it caught fire in mid-air. The crew then tried to make an emergency landing. Eyewitnesses said the pilot aimed to land the aircraft on a beach along the Caspian Sea, but it instead went down in the yard of a private house in Achi-Su village, located in the Karabudakhkent district.
The impact caused a large fire that spread over nearly 80 square metres. Emergency teams rushed to the site and managed to extinguish the flames after an intense effort.
