Before taking the oath, Verma reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the party, emphasizing that he will always remain a dedicated worker.
Rekha Gupta, the MLA from Shalimar Bagh, took the oath as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. The oath-taking ceremony has been held at today at Ram Leela Maidan. Along with her, six other ministers will also take their oaths: Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh.
Why Was Parvesh Verma Not Chosen as CM?
Parvesh Verma was a strong candidate for Chief Minister, especially after his victory over Arvind Kejriwal. However, BJP leadership decided against selecting him to avoid accusations of nepotism, as he is the son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma. Instead, the party chose Rekha Gupta, likely to appeal to women voters and the Vaishya community.
Rekha Gupta: Delhi's New Chief Minister
Rekha Gupta, MLA from Shalimar Bagh, will take the oath as Delhi's new Chief Minister. She will become the fourth woman to hold this role in the capital, after Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit, and Atishi. The ceremony will take place at 12:15 PM today at Ram Leela Maidan. Along with her, six other ministers will also take their oaths: Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh.

The notification for the six ministers has already been issued. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena is administering the oath to the new Chief Minister and her cabinet today. The ceremony witnessed the attendance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, central ministers, and Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from BJP and NDA-ruled states.
Parvesh Verma's Political Journey
Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, born on November 7, 1977, is a well-known politician in India. He is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. Verma represents the New Delhi constituency in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. He served as an MP for West Delhi from 2014 to 2024. In the 2019 elections, he won with the highest-ever margin of victory in Delhi, securing 578,486 votes.
In the 2025 assembly elections, he defeated Arvind Kejriwal to win the New Delhi seat. Previously, he had won the Mehrauli Vidhan Sabha seat in 2013, defeating Yoganand Shastri, the Speaker of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. Parvesh Verma is the son of Sahib Singh Verma, former Chief Minister of Delhi.
