Iran Confirms Death of Supreme Leader Khamenei After US-Israel Strikes
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been confirmed dead following a joint US-Israeli strike, prompting 40 days of national mourning.

After long speculation, Iran’s state TV confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has died. The announcement came on Sunday. A news presenter shared the news with tears. She said Iran will observe 40 days of mourning for the late leader. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said Khamenei was killed in a joint American-Israeli operation targeting key Iranian sites.

Trump Confirms the Strike

Trump said Khamenei died during coordinated US-Israeli strikes. The attacks aimed to destroy Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities. He did not give operational details. He called the action part of a larger campaign to remove an existential threat.

Details of the Strikes

The US and Israel launched widespread strikes across Iran. They hit Revolutionary Guard command centres, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems. Areas around Tehran, including offices linked to the Supreme Leader, were targeted in the first wave.

Israeli officials said they struck the site where Khamenei was believed to be.
