According to multiple sources cited by Reuters, Iranian Defence Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Mohammad Pakpour were reportedly killed in Israeli strikes. These sources are described as familiar with the matter. However, Tehran has not officially confirmed the deaths.
Speculation Over Supreme Leader Khamenei
Separately, Israeli sources reported that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei may have been killed in an Israeli strike earlier today. A Channel 12 report cited unnamed Israeli officials, noting “growing indications" that Khamenei was killed. Despite these reports, Israeli authorities have not confirmed the claim.
Minutes before suggesting he might have been killed, Channel 12 stated that Israel believed Khamenei was “hurt at the very least.” The report clarified that this assessment did not come from satellite images of his compound being destroyed, but from intelligence gathered from undisclosed sources.
Potential Address and Leadership Impact
Khamenei is reportedly expected to deliver an address soon. Channel 12 suggested that if a speech is aired, it may have been recorded before the attack.
The broadcaster also noted that today’s strikes caused “very significant harm” to Iran’s leadership and its top military commanders. Meanwhile, Israel’s Kan state television reported that “there is no contact” with Khamenei and his current condition remains unknown.
Lack of Official Statements
Iranian authorities have not yet provided any comment on the alleged deaths or the broader situation following the strikes.
