The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday that it carried out airstrikes in Isfahan. The attacks destroyed several F-14 fighter jets, though the military did not reveal the exact number. Israel said the strikes were part of its ongoing operations against Iranian military targets.

Attacks Hit Multiple Locations

The airstrikes spread across Isfahan Province. US and Israeli jets hit manufacturing workshops and a horse-riding club. Iranian media reported at least 11 people were killed. Cities affected included Isfahan, Najafabad, Aran, Bidgol, Barkhar, Khomeini Shahr, Shahreza, Falavarjan and Mobarakeh. The attacks caused widespread destruction.

Israel Targets Air Defence Systems

The IDF posted on Telegram, “Additionally, detection systems and air defense systems that posed a threat to Israeli Air Force aircraft were struck.” Israel said it wanted to protect its planes from Iranian radar and missile defences.

Follow-Up to Tehran Strikes

The Isfahan strike followed an earlier attack in Tehran. The IDF said, “This strike is in addition to the strike which dismantled 16 ‘Quds Force’ aircraft two days ago [Friday] at the Mehrabad airport in Tehran." The planes belonged to Iran’s elite Quds Force unit.

Isfahan hosts a major nuclear energy facility. US and Israeli officials have focused on the province in recent negotiations with Iran. Its strategic importance makes it a key military target.
