Injury Blow for Sunrisers Hyderabad; Brydon Carse Likely Out Against KKR
Brydon Carse likely to miss SRH vs KKR clash due to injury as both teams aim for first win after opening losses.

Fast bowler Brydon Carse is set to miss Sunrisers Hyderabad’s IPL 2026 match against Kolkata Knight Riders. The two teams will face each other in their second game of the season on April 2 at Eden Gardens. Carse is unlikely to feature due to a hand injury he suffered during a practice session. The injury has not healed yet, which has ruled him out of selection.

Injury Concerns Continue for Carse

This is not the first time Carse has been sidelined. He had already missed the IPL 2025 season due to injury. Moreover, he also sat out SRH’s opening match of IPL 2026 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru because of the same issue.

SRH Turn to Payne and Malinga

In Carse’s absence, SRH are expected to rely on England pacer David Payne and Sri Lanka’s Eshan Malinga as their overseas fast-bowling options. Payne made his IPL debut in the previous match against RCB at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He delivered a decent performance, picking up two wickets in his three overs.

Pat Cummins to Miss First Half of IPL 2026

SRH are also without their key overseas pacer Pat Cummins. The Australian star is recovering from an injury and is expected to miss the first half of the tournament. Although Cummins has joined the SRH squad in India, he is not yet match-fit. His absence further weakens the team’s pace attack.

SRH Suffer Heavy Defeat in Season Opener

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a disappointing start to their campaign. They lost their opening match to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets. SRH scored 201/9 in 20 overs, but RCB chased down the target of 202 in just 15.4 overs. Star batter Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 69 off 38 balls. Meanwhile, Devdutt Padikkal smashed 61 off just 26 deliveries.

KKR Also Enter Match After Defeat

Kolkata Knight Riders also head into this clash after a loss. They were beaten by Mumbai Indians in their opening match at Wankhede Stadium. KKR posted a strong total of 220 runs. However, Mumbai Indians chased down 221 in 19.1 overs. For MI, Rohit Sharma scored 78 off 38 balls, while Ryan Rickelton made 81 off 43.

Batters Shine but Bowlers Struggle for KKR

KKR had some positives with the bat. Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored half-centuries. Additionally, Finn Allen and Rinku Singh played useful cameos. However, their bowlers struggled to control the game. Key spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy failed to contain the opposition batters.

Both Teams Look to Bounce Back

Both SRH and KKR are coming into this match after defeats. Therefore, they will be eager to register their first win of the season. However, injuries and bowling concerns could play a crucial role in deciding the outcome of the match.
