IPL 2026: Jaiswal, Sooryavanshi Power Rajasthan Royals to Dominant Win Over MI
Rajasthan Royals crushed Mumbai Indians by 27 runs after a blazing start from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in a rain-hit clash.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) outclassed Mumbai Indians (MI) by 27 runs in a rain-affected 13th match of IPL 2026 in Guwahati.  After being decided to bowl first, Mumbai Indians did not expect the kind of assault delivered by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first 20 balls. Even Jasprit Bumrah was forced to rethink his strategy.

The openers launched a fierce attack and scored 80 runs in just five overs. Sooryavanshi played a quickfire knock of 39 off 14 balls before getting dismissed. Meanwhile, Jaiswal remained unbeaten and smashed 77 off 32 balls. Their efforts helped RR post 150/3 in the shortened 11-over innings.

Allah Ghazanfar (2/21 in 2 overs) was the most successful bowler for MI. However, Bumrah conceded 32 runs in 3 overs and failed to take a wicket. In reply, Mumbai Indians struggled from the start. Their powerplay was reduced to just 3.2 overs due to the delay, and they lost three wickets during this phase.

RR’s bowlers maintained tight control and restricted MI to 123/9. Jofra Archer provided the first breakthrough. Sandeep Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi picked up two wickets each. Nandre Burger (2/21 in 2 overs) was the most successful bowler for Rajasthan Royals. Sherfane Rutherford and Naman Dhir were the top scorers for Mumbai Indians.

With this win, RR climbed to the top of the points table with three wins in three matches. Meanwhile, MI suffered their second consecutive defeat.

Explosive Start by Rajasthan Royals

Both Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi are naturally aggressive players, and the rain-shortened format pushed them to attack even harder. There was no sign of moisture affecting the pitch as they dominated from the start.

Instead of opening with Trent Boult, MI gave the first over to Deepak Chahar. Jaiswal took full advantage, hitting multiple boundaries in the opening over.

The highlight moment came when 15-year-old Sooryavanshi faced Jasprit Bumrah for the first time. He showed no fear and smashed Bumrah’s first ball for a six. He followed it with another big hit, scoring 13 runs off five balls in that over.

When Boult came in to bowl, both batters continued the assault. By the end of the 20-ball powerplay, RR had raced to 59 without losing a wicket.

Jaiswal Shines Bright Again

Jaiswal has had mixed results against MI in the past, but this time he delivered a stunning performance. He attacked from the beginning, hitting four fours and three sixes in his first nine balls.

He reached his half-century in just 23 balls, bringing it up with a crisp boundary off Hardik Pandya.

Although Sooryavanshi was dismissed by Shardul Thakur, and later Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag fell to AM Ghazanfar, Jaiswal kept attacking till the end. He even hit Bumrah for a straight six and added crucial boundaries in the final over to take RR to a strong total.

MI Batting Falters Under Pressure

Mumbai Indians needed a fast start but instead lost wickets quickly. Ryan Rickelton hit a six but got out soon after. Suryakumar Yadav also managed a six but fell on the very next ball.

Rohit Sharma was trapped lbw by Sandeep Sharma yet again, continuing his struggles against that bowler. MI managed only 29 for 3 in their powerplay, far behind RR’s explosive start.

RR Bowlers Seal the Game

As the match went on, the pitch slowed down slightly. RR’s fast bowlers adjusted well by using slower deliveries and cutters. Ravi Bishnoi made a big impact by dismissing Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma in the same over, reducing MI to 46 for 5.

Though Sherfane Rutherford and Naman Dhir tried to fight back with a quick partnership, RR quickly ended any hopes of a comeback. Sandeep Sharma took a sharp catch to dismiss Rutherford.

In the end, Burger, Sandeep, and Archer finished things off as RR secured a comfortable 27-run victory.

Player of the Match: Yashasvi Jaiswal

Heavy rain in Guwahati delayed the start of the match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians by more than two and a half hours. When the game finally began at 10:10 pm, Rajasthan’s batters wasted no time in taking control. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal laid the foundation for Rajasthan Royals’ win, and then the bowlers did their job by restricting Mumbai Indians well short of the target.
