During his address, PM Modi highlighted the importance of national discipline and collective responsibility at a time when many countries are facing economic uncertainty, rising energy prices, and supply chain disruptions.
PM Modi Appeals to Avoid Buying Gold for One Year
The prime minister made a special appeal regarding gold purchases, especially during weddings and celebrations. “I would appeal to people not to buy gold for weddings for one year,” PM Modi said.
He indicated that reducing gold imports could help India save valuable foreign exchange reserves during difficult global conditions.
Calls for Reduced Foreign Travel and More Work From Home
PM Modi also urged citizens to avoid unnecessary foreign travel for at least a year. “Postpone travelling abroad for at least a year,” he said.
He further encouraged companies and employees to continue adopting flexible work systems wherever possible. “Prioritise Work from Home,” the prime minister said, adding that reduced travel could lower fuel consumption and ease pressure on energy imports.

PM Modi Highlights India’s Energy Challenges
The prime minister reminded citizens that India heavily depends on imported fuel. “Our country do not have big-big oil wells,” he said while explaining the importance of reducing petrol and diesel consumption.
He encouraged people to rely more on public transport systems such as metros to reduce fuel usage and save foreign exchange. “Reduce petrol and diesel consumption by using metros. It will save foreign exchange,” he stated.
Push for Carpooling and Electric Vehicles
PM Modi also promoted carpooling and electric mobility as practical solutions to reduce fuel dependency. “If we must use a car, then we should try to carpool. Use Electric Vehicles,” he said.
According to the prime minister, such small changes in daily habits could collectively make a major difference to the country’s economy.
Appeal to Cut Edible Oil Consumption
The prime minister also focused on health and food imports. He advised people to reduce edible oil consumption for both financial and health reasons. “Reduce edible oil consumption for both economic health and personal health,” he said.
India imports a significant quantity of edible oil every year, making it an important economic concern.
Farmers Asked to Reduce Chemical Fertiliser Use
PM Modi also appealed to the agriculture sector to adopt more sustainable and cost-effective methods.
“Reduce the usage of chemical fertilisers by 50%. Adopt solar-powered irrigation pumps instead of diesel pumps in agriculture,” he said.
He stressed that cleaner farming methods and renewable energy solutions would reduce dependence on imported fuel and fertilisers while helping the environment.
PM Modi Promotes Made-in-India Products
The prime minister concluded his appeal by asking citizens to support domestic industries and locally manufactured goods. “Prioritise Made-in-India and locally manufactured products,” he said.
According to PM Modi, choosing Indian products would strengthen local businesses, create jobs, and improve the country’s economic resilience during global uncertainty.
