Mumbai City FC staged a thrilling comeback to secure a 2-2 draw against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in a high-intensity Indian Super League clash.

Mumbai City FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant played an exciting 2-2 draw on Saturday at the Mumbai Football Arena in the Indian Super League 2024-25 season. As a result, Mumbai City FC now has 33 points from 22 matches. They need just one more point to secure a playoff spot.

First Half: Mohun Bagan Super Giant Takes Charge

From the start, Mohun Bagan Super Giant dominated the first 30 minutes. They created several chances to break through Mumbai City FC’s defense. Meanwhile, Jamie Maclaren and Deepak Tangri led the attack, constantly pressing forward. Mumbai City FC survived a few close calls. Then, in the 32nd minute, Maclaren capitalized on a loose ball in the box. He struck it with his right foot into the bottom left corner, giving the visitors the lead. Hmingthanmawia Ralte attempted a shot from the right side of the box, but the defense blocked it. However, a poor clearance put the ball at Jon Toral’s feet. He tapped it into the bottom left corner in the 57th minute, cutting the deficit to one goal. Following this, the goal energized Mumbai City FC. They created several chances. In the 62nd minute, Bipin Singh broke into the Mariners’ half and passed to Yoell van Nieff at the edge of the box. Van Nieff took a powerful shot, but Vishal Kaith made a crucial save at the top center of the goal. As the match progressed, Mumbai City FC kept attacking, applying pressure, and exploiting defensive mistakes. Eventually, their persistence paid off in the 89th minute. Nathan Rodrigues, a Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) graduate, positioned himself inside the six-yard box. He headed the ball into the net, scoring the equalizer and securing the draw.
