PM Modi launches India's ‘National Large Language Model’ to boost AI, innovation, and digital transformation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘National Large Language Model’ on Wednesday to strengthen India's artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. He made the announcement during a post-budget webinar on job creation.

India’s Role in AI

While addressing the webinar, PM Modi emphasized that the world needs a reliable, safe, and democratic nation to provide affordable AI solutions. Therefore, he urged the private sector to stay ahead of global competition. Moreover, he pointed out that investing in AI today will bring massive benefits in the future.

Government’s Strong Support for Startups

To further boost innovation, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to startups. In fact, he announced a ₹1 lakh crore fund to support research and technological advancements. This move, undoubtedly, will help India become a global leader in AI-driven solutions.

Focus on Education, Skills, and Healthcare

At the same time, Modi stressed that education, skills, and healthcare are key to India’s progress. He mentioned that the education system is transforming significantly. For instance:

  • The National Education Policy (NEP) aims to modernize learning.
  • More IITs are being established to expand access to top institutions.
  • AI and digital technology are being integrated into classrooms.
  • Textbooks are getting digitized for easy access.
  • Study materials are now available in 22 Indian languages.

As a result, students across the country will benefit from a more accessible and tech-driven education.

Preserving India’s Ancient Knowledge

Meanwhile, PM Modi introduced the Gyan Bharatam Mission to safeguard India's vast manuscript heritage. As part of this initiative, the government plans to digitize over one crore manuscripts. Consequently, this effort will lead to the creation of a National Digital Repository, allowing scholars worldwide to explore India's rich historical knowledge.

With these strategic steps, India is not only embracing AI for the future but also preserving its cultural heritage.
