Haryanvi Singer Ankiit Balyann Killed in Shamli, Police Hunt for Attackers
Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankiit Balyann was shot dead outside a Shamli gym after four armed assailants allegedly fired 18 rounds at him.
Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankiit Balyann was allegedly shot dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli on Wednesday evening. Police said four armed assailants fired around 18 rounds at him outside a gym. About an hour before the attack, Balyann had posted an Instagram video in which he sang lines from a song about murder. He also asked his followers to share the video. The timing of the post has drawn attention as police investigate the Ankiit Balyann murder case and search for the motive behind his killing.

Ankiit Balyann Shot Dead Outside Shamli Gym

Police said the Haryanvi singer shooting took place at around 7 pm near the Aryapuri drain embankment in Shamli. According to witnesses, four attackers waited outside the gym. They allegedly opened fire when Balyann came out and walked towards his SUV. The assailants reportedly forced open the vehicle’s door and shot him. They then escaped on motorcycles without registration plates. Police said the attackers fired around 18 rounds at Balyann. Police and forensic teams reached the crime scene soon after the Shamli shooting. Investigators recovered empty cartridges from the spot. CCTV footage from the area is also being examined. Police hope the footage will help identify the attackers and establish how they carried out the murder.

Ankiit Balyann Instagram Reel Before Murder

Balyann posted an Instagram reel before his murder. In the video, he sat inside a car and sang two lines from a song about murder. Murder maar de sadak ke upar… Jo katkega, woh batkega, saara bach jaavega [Commit the murder on the road …Whoever gets cut down will be scattered Everyone else will survive], he sings. He then asked his followers to share the lines. "….apne laadley bhai ude Ye line share kar do Jai Baba Ji, Jai Bharat [ Brothers, share this line for your beloved brother], he adds. The video appeared roughly an hour before Balyann was allegedly attacked. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the post as part of their investigation. However, authorities have not officially said that the Instagram video was connected to the shooting.

Protests After Ankiit Balyann Murder

The Ankiit Balyann murder triggered protests in Shamli. His family members and supporters blocked the Delhi-Muzaffarnagar road near Verma Market Tiraha. The protest location was around 50 metres from the spot where Balyann was allegedly shot. Police deployed additional personnel to maintain law and order. Protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers. They also called for strict action against everyone involved in the killing.

Who Was Haryanvi Singer Ankiit Balyann?

Balyann belonged to Bantikheda village and gained popularity through Haryanvi music. Many of his songs featured themes linked to gun culture. He also built a strong presence on social media. Balyann had more than 440,000 Instagram followers. His YouTube channel had more than 367,000 subscribers. His growing social media following helped him establish a significant presence in the Haryanvi music scene.

Ankiit Balyann Murder Investigation

Balyann had faced an FIR in 2023. Police registered the case after he allegedly organised a roadshow in Shamli without permission. Investigators are now examining his past activities, personal disputes and professional connections as they try to establish the motive behind Ankiit Balyann’s murder. “Several teams have been formed to establish the motive behind Ankit Balyan’s murder and arrest the accused. All possible angles are being investigated [sic],” the earlier HT report quoted SP (Shamli) NP Singh as saying. Police have formed several teams to track down the suspects. They have also sent teams to possible hideouts in Haryana and Punjab. Investigators suspect that the attackers could be from Haryana. Police are checking areas including Panipat as they continue their search. The investigation remains underway. Police are working to identify the four attackers, determine the motive and establish whether anyone else helped plan or execute the Ankiit Balyann killing.
